(HOUSTON, Texas, May 9, 2022) – Our fourth annual Tee Up Fore TEACH event, held at Topgolf Katy on Saturday, May 7, raised more than $320,000 for public education. Additionally, our pre-event online auction raised more than $65,000. All proceeds will help advance TEACH’s mission of providing educators with ongoing coaching and comprehensive professional development in nonverbal classroom management techniques to create positive learning environments for all children.

The fundraiser, chaired by Phyllis Williams, was attended by more than 250 golf enthusiasts. This year’s honoree, The Astros Foundation, has been a longtime supporter of TEACH’s mission and public education. On hand to accept the recognition was Paula Harris, Executive Director, Astros Foundation and Senior Vice President, Community Affairs.

Teams practicing their swings to get the most points had the golf bays buzzing! The winning team was Shades of Blue, headed by Rosemary Schatzman. Guests also took a swing at auction and raffle prizes, including a round of golf at Bluejack National, a dinner at Home Plate in Minute Maid Park catered by Chef Danny Trace of Potente, several wine cellars and an array of sparkling jewels.

TEACH Executive Director Alvin Abraham closed the program by thanking sponsors and guests and with a special acknowledgement to educators who have worked especially hard during this unprecedented time.

“More than ever, today our teachers need to be able to help students succeed and create a positive learning environment,” Abraham said. “TEACH provides the tools to support these teachers with ongoing coaching on classroom management.”
