HOUSTON, TEXAS – In partnership with the Houston and Aldine Independent School Districts, To Educate All Children (TEACH) has been able to provide intensive coaching and professional development training to nearly 1,000 educators at public schools across Houston during a time when educators and students needed support most. When Mitchell Elementary faced the challenges of the pandemic and had to rebuild from the ground up after Hurricane Harvey, TEACH’s support proved especially vital.
The video below, captured for TEACH’s annual fundraising gala, Touchdown for TEACH, illustrates TEACH’s meaningful seven-year partnership with Mitchell Elementary, as told by the school’s principal, Dr. Castillo-Guajardo, and many of the school’s educators. With TEACH’s year-round coaching and customized training, Mitchell teachers are engaging their students, reducing disciplinary referrals, increasing instructional time and improving student success.
“TEACH has been an instrumental partner in the way our classrooms are run,” Principal Castillo-Guajardo says. “It is the foundation of how we set up our classrooms from day one. It’s important to have that partnership, training and coaching that starts right off the bat, before we even begin school.”
In 2022, thanks to the generosity of its donors, TEACH continues its work at Mitchell Elementary and 17 other partner schools in greater Houston, reaching more than 12,000 students.
