JOB TITLE: Principal Support Leader                                           

REPORTS TO: Director of Education & Partnerships

EFFECTIVE DATE: June 3, 2019

 

Who we are:

TEACH is a community impact organization currently operating in Houston Independent School District schools that are located in predominantly low-income neighborhoods. TEACH focuses on empowering educators by helping them to  build safe and calm classrooms through its intensive training and coaching on classroom management which focuses on areas such as de-escalation, conflict resolution, building students’ self-image, and nonverbal communication.

TEACH is on a trajectory of fast growth and is seeking highly experienced educators who are ready to have a larger impact on the school system. Who are we looking for?

We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, skilled, master administrators and/or teachers to be a part of our dynamic team of trainers and coaches who will help launch and support our ENVoY model implementation in academic settings throughout the greater Houston area.

 

What you’d do:

  • Build effective relationships with principals and school leaders.
  • Shadow Director of Education & Partnerships during Admin update meetings.
  • Conduct Admin Update Meetings
    • Share best practices related to TEACH skill implementation.
    • Actively listen to school staff and respond to educator concerns regarding TEACH while working with stakeholders to identify solutions.
    • Keep confidential any conversations with school administrators or support staff about sensitive campus information, sharing it only with the appropriate TEACH team members.
  • Observe and coach our administrators and teachers using TEACH’s ENVoY model which includes providing empowering and differentiated feedback that supports growth.
  • Form supportive relationships with administrators and teachers as you coach and develop them into a high TEACH skill implementing campus.
  • Support students by providing the highest quality professional development to their administrators and teachers, helping them become even better at what they do.
  • Illuminate, vocalize and connect ideas to enhance TEACH’s strategic vision.
  • Contribute to the development of TEACH curriculum and training materials.

 

What you’ve done:

  • Managed a group of teachers towards student and academic goals as a school administrator for at least 5 years.
  • Developed training curriculum.
  • Worked in a school and taught students… for at least 7 years.
  • Taught in a variety of settings (buildings, grade levels, etc.) with a variety of people.
  • Understand the needs of high poverty/urban schools – even better if you’ve worked in one.
  • Helped out your colleagues… formally or informally, become even better at their craft.
  • Graduated college with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s.
  • Earned your teacher and principal certifications.
