The room was packed on the second floor of Saint Arnold’s Brewery for the inaugural Huddle Up for TEACH event on Tuesday night. Guests mixed and mingled while sipping brews and celebrating Taco Tuesday with Houston’s newest food craze, Tacodeli.

Mari Treviño and Bryan Glass, who served as Co-chairs of the successful event, stood with Kelly Krohn, TEACH’s Executive Director, to welcome guests and highlight TEACH’s mission. Principals and teachers from HISD, as well as Board members and the Home Team Host Committee, were recognized during the night’s football-themed event for their hard work and dedication to TEACH.

The crowd of supporters were treated to an interactive program throughout the night to learn more about TEACH and the importance of their work in HISD promoting calm and safe classroom environments for students.  The audience participated in the following TEACH activities:

– 1st Quarter:  “Let’s Talk TEACH” testimonials about TEACH

– 2nd Quarter:  “Act It Out” for non verbal communication

– 3rd Quarter:  “TEACH Jenga”

– 4th Quarter:  “TEACH Tac Toe”

– Post Game:  Write a Thank You Note to a teacher, for Teacher Appreciation Week

In a surprising turn of events, one of our very own Houston Texans, Christian Covington, donated a last-minute prize of a FaceTime chat with him for one of the night’s winners. Two prizes also included a football and a mini-helmet, both signed by Troy Aikman. The grand prize was a pair of tickets to the coveted Touchdown for TEACH event held on November 14th – this year, Peyton Manning is the guest of honor.
