Who We Are Looking For:
To Educate All Children (TEACH), a Houston-based nonprofit focused on helping educators create engaging, student-centered learning environments, is seeking an experienced Director of Communications to join its team.

The Director of Communications will be responsible for the strategic planning and production of all of TEACH’s marketing and communications efforts. Duties include managing and developing content for TEACH’s website, social media platforms and e-newsletters; conducting media outreach as needed; creating marketing collateral and materials for new partner schools; and supporting external communication efforts for the organization’s key fundraising events throughout the year. Creativity, attention-to-detail, an eye for design and an understanding of communications are a must.

This is a full-time, in-person position at TEACH’s Houston office.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field
  • Minimum of five years of integrated communications experience
  • Experienced in managing content across all forms of print media and online social media and marketing channels
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in writing for multiple channels
  • Keen understanding of current content-marketing trends
  • Proficiency in content-publishing and editing tools, such as WordPress, Canva, InDesign, MailChimp, Photoshop, etc.
  • Understanding of web and social media analytics
  • Graphic design experience required

Accountabilities

  • Develop and oversee the strategy for all of TEACH’s external and internal communications
  • Guide brand voice and style guide for all public relations, marketing, advertising and content messaging and initiatives
  • Develop, edit, publish and manage content across all media platforms, including email, social media and website, as well as blog posts and press releases
  • Maintain TEACH’s Master Planning Calendar to ensure the consistent creation and delivery of cross-channel communications throughout the year
  • Brainstorm and develop creative content and content ideas on a regular basis (e.g., a minimum of three social media posts across all platforms weekly)
  • Collaborate with team members to plan, develop and manage content strategies, copy, styles and layouts for key communication materials, as well as video storyboarding and scripts
  • Prepare promotional materials, collateral pieces, messaging, etc. for all TEACH marketing efforts and events
  • Work closely with Executive Director to outline, draft, design, print, and distribute TEACH’s annual Community Impact Report
  • Provide editorial, creative and technical support to team members
  • Write, edit and update content across all of TEACH’s channels regularly to ensure that it is current and relevant
  • Track related analytics to ascertain content-engagement levels and build a following
  • Stay up-to-date with communication strategies and content trends to keep TEACH’s voice current and engaging
