Who we are:

TEACH is a community impact organization currently operating in Houston Independent School District schools that are located in predominantly low-income neighborhoods. TEACH focuses on empowering educators by helping them to  build safe and calm classrooms through its ENVoY program model. ENVoY is an intensive training and coaching model for classroom management which focuses on areas such as de-escalation, conflict resolution, building students’ self-image, relationship building, and nonverbal communication.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, skilled leader with a passion for education and a background in business management to oversee the internal operations of TEACH including but not limited to managing the administrative, personnel management, and accounting functions of the organization.

 

What you’d do:

Administration and People Management (50% of the position)

 

  • Assembles and prioritizes selection of staff professionals with the goal of creating a work environment characterized by excellence, discipline and passion and is responsible for the staffing process including developing job postings, overseeing the interview process and developing offer letters, and conducting new hire orientations.
  • Maintains a climate which attracts, retains and motivates a staff of top-quality people, including those from diverse backgrounds;
  • Ensures that job descriptions are developed, and that regular performance evaluations are held and documented for every employee; Oversee annual evaluation process.
  • Ensures compliance with personnel policies and state and federal regulations on employment and safety issues;
  • Assists staff in relating their specialized work to the total operation, and ensures that employees have the necessary skills and talents to do their jobs; and
  •     Encourages staff development and continuing education opportunities. 
  •     Guide managers in Employee Performance management
  •     Maintain competitive salary position for the agency by obtaining and analyzing salary survey data annually.
  • Manage Employee Benefits and Organizational Insurance needs for the organization.

 

 

Financial Management and Legal Compliance

 

  • Assures adequate control and accounting of all funds, including the development and maintenance of sound financial practices for the organization;
  • Works with the ED, staff, the Finance Committee, and the Board in preparing a budget and provides fiscal oversight so that the organization operates within budget guidelines;
  • Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and their respective reporting requirements;
  • Executes legal documents appropriately; and

 

Be able to manage External Relations when needed:

 

  • Serves as an effective spokesperson for TEACH, and represents the programs and point of view of the organization to the school network, to funders, to collaborative partners, the general public, policy influencers and decision makers; and
  • Establishes sound working relationships, collaborative partnerships, and cooperative arrangements with a variety of professional organizations and business groups.

 

Board of Directors

 

  • Works well with ED, Board officers and entire Board effectively;
  • Provides appropriate, adequate, and timely information to the Board;
  • Provides support to Committees; and
  • Keeps the Board informed on the status of the organization and all-important factors influencing its decisions.

 

Personal Growth and Development

 

  • Keep skills refreshed through readings and participation in seminars, conferences, etc. as appropriate and needed; and
  • Find time for disciplined reflections and renewal.

  • You have a demonstrated track record in building and/or leading organizations known for being goal oriented and effective, collaborative and dynamic, nimble and responsive, influential and relevant, sustainable and enduring;
  • You possess the intellectual capacity, management skills and curiosity to motivate and lead an organization intended to catalyze reform in education methodologies nationwide;
  • You view this endeavor as a “start-up” with the enthusiasm and energy that drives others to perform at a level beyond their own expectations moved by the imperative to change the existing public education delivery methodologies;
  • Have curiosity, drive and passion for effecting change and the capacity to be a disruptive force in pursuit of positive outcomes;
  • You are able to work collaboratively across the spectrum of stakeholders – government, business groups, professional associations, educators, parent organizations and community leaders among others;
  • You have the capacity to conceptualize and sustain education, outreach, engagement and mobilization campaigns; and
  • You have exceptional communications skills to inform, educate, enlist and persuade decision makers and the general public.

  • Competitive salary in the range of $75K – $85K depending on experience and prior accomplishments.
