HISD Releases Independent Program Report on TEACH’s Impact
The Houston Independent School District’s Department of Research and Accountability recently conducted an independent, multi-year program evaluation of TEACH’s impact in several schools across the district. The study found significant decreases in the number of excused, unexcused, and total absences from these students; decreases in the percentage of out-of-school suspensions; and significant increases in STAAR reading and math scores.
The study sample included 241 students of teachers that had been trained with TEACH strategies. The students come from three elementary schools and one middle school, all TEACH partner schools in HISD.
